Geothermal Tax Credit

The Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency affirm that geothermal heat pumps are the most cost effective and environmentally friendly way to heat and cool your home. They believe in this so strongly that they will give homeowners a 30% tax credit for residential geothermal systems installed in 2018 and 2019. Read more about the geothermal tax credit here.

Why Geothermal?

Geothermal heating and cooling systems not only harvest the free and renewable energy stored in the ground around your home, but they are also quiet, compact and require very little maintenance.

Geothermal systems are incredibly efficient, keeping your home comfortable year-round at the fraction of the cost of typical heating and cooling systems. Geothermal systems are not just environmentally friendly. They also have a very low operating cost and use up to 40% less energy than conventional systems.

Geothermal systems have fewer moving parts than typical heating and cooling systems. This means they are more dependable and require less maintenance. They also have a longer life expectancy. The indoor unit, which is typically installed in the basement, can last up to ten years longer than traditional systems.

How does Geothermal work?

Geothermal systems use ground source heat pumps to transfer warm and cool air to and from your home. The system works with the relative temperature of the earth instead of the variable temperatures above ground. In the winter, the ground is naturally much warmer than the air. In the summer, the ground stays cooler. Using heat transfer, water moves energy through a loop installed in the ground around your home. This transfer efficiently keeps your home comfortable year-round at a fraction of the cost of a standard system.

The installation of a ground source energy loop is easy and can be installed on any type or size of land property, even in a sub-division. There are several different styles of loops and they generally last for an upwards of 50 years. Comfort Xpress works exclusively with professional well drillers who guarantee their work.
